WPBA Membership Drive Telethon at the Atlanta Classic

If you are a fan of the WPBA and its players, you may be interested in the following information. On Wednesday, September 29, between 2pm and 8pm in the pro arena, the WPBA will be holding a Membership Drive Telethon that will be streamed live and free for the viewers. Tune in to wpba.com, the official website of the WPBA, for this special streamed show. Interviews and tips for your pool game by top players will be shown throughout the Telethon. For those who are interested in seeing what goes on behind the scenes, there will also be coverage of the players meeting and charity event. Several of the professional trick shot players will be making a special appearance for added entertainment.

BILLIARD EDUCATION FOUNDATION AWARDS 2010 ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS

The Billiard Education Foundation (BEF) Academic Scholarship Program is pleased to announce the 2010 recipients of its annual scholarship program.Â The scholarships are divided into two categories: BEF Excellence in Education scholarship ($5,000 awarded over a two-year term) and BEF Aiming for Higher Education scholarships (7 x $1,000 award). The objective of the BEF Academic Scholarship Program is to grant scholarships to high school seniors who have benefited from the sport of billiards and are pursuing a college education.

Shanghai, China- A new name in the billiards world will stand out as China’s Xiao-Fang Fu has been crowned the 2010 Women’s World 10-Ball Championship. Fu toppled a star studded field and overcame legendary Allison Fisher in the finals to become the second consecutive Chinese woman to win the World 9-Ball.

Walt Harris May 13, 1929 – August 21, 2010.

Walt devoted most of his adult life promoting the sport of 3 Cushion Billiards. Author of the 4 volume “œBilliards Atlas” and founder of the United States NationalÂ “œSenior Tour” there was never a time when he was not thinking of or playing Billiards. A friend and mentor to almost every Billiards player through out the world he was admired by many and loved by all!

Jeff Beckley of Indiana New Iberia, Louisiana- The 5th Annual Ozone Billiards US Amateur Open crowned a new set of champions this year in its 8-Ball and 9-Ball divisions. Players from Las Vegas all the way to Tampa,Florida came to be crowned the Ozone US Amateur Champion. 155 entrants vied in all the events to capture their share of the $20,000 purse available.
