Press Release – Revision of Announced WPBA Changes for 2011

Just a week ago, the WPBA announced some changes from 2010, and the Board has taken note of, and now concurs with, many who have since noted that the elimination of the Regional Tour Championships was unfair. WPBA Vice President Tamre Rogers observed: “In furtherance of its discussions, the Board recognized that Regional Tour players have invested time and money to earn a shot at winning a 2011 WPBA exempt spot and have earned the opportunity. It is also understood that WPBA players who are exempt in 2010 but fail to finish in the top 32 in the end of year rankings must not be denied a chance to retain their tour cards.”

It was a smashing weekend November 13th & 14th at Casper’s Billiards in San Leon, Texas.    The weather was just how we liked it”¦..rainy and cool, prime conditions for being indoors and playing 9-ball all weekend long.  Casper’s Billiards is like no other pool room on our tour.

WPBA Announces Changes for 2011

The WPBA Board of Directors notified its player membership today that WPBA field size will be reduced from 64 to 48 players for all 2011events.  WPBA Vice President Tamre Rogers commented: “WPBA fields were, in fact, expanded by the Board in 2002 from 48 to 64.

The 2010 Steve Mizerak Championship kicked off on Thursday November 4 from inside the Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL. 71 Players registered to compete for the championship. An impressive field of players lined the brackets, including all winners the 2010 Seminole Pro Tour winners: Johnny Archer (Mr. Cues II Atlanta, GA); Stevie Moore (Bankshots Billiards, Jacksonville, FL); Rodney Morris (Hollywood Billiards, Hollywood , CA and Strokers Billiards, Palm Harbor, FL); Donny Mills (Capone’ Billiards, Spring Hill, FL); Shane Van Boening (Marietta Billiard Club, Marietta, GA); Corey Deuel (Diamond Billiards, Cape Coral, FL); Mike Dechaine (Raxx Pool Room, West Hempstead, NY)

Hennessee & O’Neal Double Dip at Lucky Break

air Game hosted another great tournament weekend! This time we were at Lucky Break Billiard Club in Manchester, TN (http://luckybreakbilliardclub.com), John Hennessee’s new room, with 4 7″² valleys and 4 7″² Diamonds and 3 IPT Diamond 9″² tables, along with darts and great food, it is quite a room. John put up a guaranteed $750 for first place in the open tournament, a race to 9 on the winner’s side and a race to 7 on the losers, plus adding $200 to the race to seven mini-tournament on Friday night.

Junior Billiard Champions Take Aim at World Title


The Billiard Education Foundation (BEF) is pleased to announce that eight (8) junior players ( 19 years old or younger) will be representing the United States in the XIX WPA World Junior 9-Ball Championships, November 29 ““December 1, 2010. The United States Pool Players Association (USPPA) and the Rail Bird Project will produce the World Pool-Billiard Association’s (WPA) most prestigious junior event, which will be held at the Peppermill Resort in Reno, Nevada.

The Inaugural Atlanta Billiard Show

Amateur and professional players descended on the Atlanta area for the inaugural Atlanta Billiard Show, held October 1st through the 3rd 2010.  Dawn Hopkins of Dawn Hopkins Promotions put together a great show and event for pool players from all as far away as Montreal Canada.
