(Shanghai)–As in much of the world, the sport of professional pool has had to endure its share of austerity lately. Which is why as over 100 of the best men and women players from around the globe gathered today in Shanghai to prepare for Thursday’s opening day of the China Open 9-ball Championship, the mood among the gathered throng of cue artists was decidedly upbeat.

The last Pro Women’s event at SBX was 2010 and won by Kelly Fisher, who was not present this year. Kelly may not have been present but another Fisher was. Allison Fisher the 2009 Champion was present and in stroke and on track to win. The Diamond Women’s Open 9-ball Professional Players Championship was two days, Saturday and Sunday.
Professor-Q-Ball 3-C Challenge A Great Success
During the first two nights of the preliminary rounds at this year’s USBA national three-cushion championship, pool players lined up three deep to accept Professor-Q-Ball’s challenge: a race to five against one of the billiard players in the tournament, with the pool player getting the break shot and some instruction from a three-cushion player.
